THE REASON WHY

Atlantic Rowing Race 2007
Cornwall, United Kingdom
Two Cornish gig rowers, Paul Harris and Steve Gardner, have completed their epic journey of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in their self-built boat 'The Reason Why'. They started the race on 2nd December 2007 from La Gomera in the Canaries and arrived in English Harbour, Antigua, in the Caribbean in the early hours of Sunday 27th January 2008. Their journey took them a total of 55 days 12 hours and 3 minutes during which time they rowed in 1hr and 2hr shifts, and ate reconstituted food using sea water pumped through a desalinator. Their blog and poems are available to read on their website.
